door latch/interior light

When I open the driver door on my 95 the interior lights dont come on and the radio doesnt shut off. I found the way to fix this is to put my finger in the door latch and push up on it and the int. lights come on and the radio shuts off. Tried spraying lubricant on this to loosen it up but I still have the same prob. Not a biggie but just tired of putting my finger in there everytime i get out the car and dont want to forget one day and run the bat. down. Any suggestions??

Re: door latch/interior light

The radio does go off on its own after 10 minutes.

I don't see that switch being easy to service by any means...

Re: door latch/interior light

As soon as the door opens your radio should go off, as well as any other electrical function (windows, moonroof etc)

In my car, the radio/CD will continue to play after the key is out of the ignition if the radio is left on. As soon as a door opens, it cuts out.

Hardtimer are you experiencing the radio staying on after the door opens? I dont think that should be happening

Re: door latch/interior light

Right, its because of the latch on the door. It stays in the same position when I open the door and it should go up a little when I open the door. So I have to just stick my finger in there and push the latch up. Then the lights come on and the radio shuts off. My question is what can I do to fix this latch or loosen it up so it will move a little more freely? Howz it going btw Jim?

Re: door latch/interior light

I'll have a look see at that latch, you know it might just need some WD-40 or some degreaser to loosen up some gunk that is holding the latch in the incorrect position.

As for me, its going quite well. Weather is starting to improve north of the border here and my rims go on in 3 weeks
