Animated sketches to game

Here's a fun little thing.

I was gonna make a game so I went to sketch my car to build the objects from. I decided I liked them enough to make it a quick little thing on my website:

Ultimately as many of you know everything changed...I abandoned the original idea, and made the game another way.

no I do not hate Hondas. No I do not hate sport cars or any cars of any type for that matter. As a matter of fact I make a pretty decent chunk o change drawing anything with wheels. Back in 1980 a Toyota saved my life in a roll over accident.

In the VW community they jab at the "ricers" but it's just for fun. Look at it like teasing your little brother because he's better at football than you are.

I have a Scion Xb in the drawing queue right now, and I hope to get one by years end.

So please please do not misunderstand.

I thought it was fun putting together the animated sequence. I thought it was fun to build my own game. Sometimes your art takes you places you never thought it would....and the journey is fun.

It took me about 5 hours to write the code for the game. I had some serious issues getting the collision detections to work right.

The beetle is 2d. I drew it in Illustrator and imported it into flash. Once I got it in flash I put some code on it to make it scale up when you push the space bar which gives the illusion of jumping.

At some point in the future I hope to do a 2.0 version and make it more like the old sprint game. We'll see.

oh yeah....tack on 30 minutes to make the music. I was using acid 4.0 at that time. I have since switched to fruityloops because it allows me to create all from scratch.

hey lemorris, how did you learn how to use acid pro? was it a web site or did you just mess around with it. i cant figure the son of a gun out.

oh the game is cool. i understand now why you lose points when you hit the honda logos.......its because if you do hit the logo you may mess up the logo and we don't want that do we.

If you got to http://www.acidplanet.com there are some basic tutorials. I also printed out the manual and bulled my way through it till something stuck. I like fruityloops better though. I'm still learning but everything I make is all mine.

cool game lemorris (you should make it easier though, i can only get about 12000, lol). it would be cool to know how to make games, but i dont anything about computers and i dont have enough time
