Thumbs down Painted my headlights (pics)

Well all of you know that our headlights are notorious for turning yellow and starting to look crappier as time goes on. So i decided to take one of my headlights apart and repaint the chrome using chrome spray paint. Here are the pics:
This is how crappy and rusted it looked inside, the high beam has been primered already.

I painted the outside too

Finished product(notice how dull the fake chrome looks)

Painted side

Unpainted side

Painted side again

Unpainted on left, painted on right( should have never painted the headlight)

This is how crappy your beam will look when you use crappy paint.

Message to people: for those who want to paint their headlights, DONT USE CHEAP CHROME PAINT. I used Dupli-color chrome paint with the chrome cap <~~crap(don't buy!). It made the headlight look new again from the outside, but really made my beam of light distorted. Next time I will buy some better higher quality paint.

Now this is just a suggestion.... not even sure how it would work out, or how well it would.... but you could go to a hobby shop and buy some silver leafing material and use that... I would think it'd be more shiney/reflective than the paint you got to use.

That, or just pick up some chrome housing projectors
<---- like those in my avatar

Wow man, I thought it was gonna work too by the title. That sucks, I thought duplicolor would put out a better quality chrome product than that, what about Krylon, have you tried that?

Kind of pricey... but if not projectors, why not just replace them?

Re: Painted my headlights (pics)

i painted mine cause I had originally painted them black....they looked cool black....but I couldnt see shit all on dark roads....so I painted them silver....and its way better....but no where near OEM.....You should get chrome vinal.....that stuff is reflective.

What if you got a mirror, and CUT IT CAREFULLY to fit in there perfectly, throw in some gorilla glue, damnn! Haha, I wonder how that would work out >.<
