Re: adding a tach to 93 civic LX
It's very easy actually. I suggest something from Autometer, please don't get a 5" monster tach w/ shift light
www.summitracing.comHere are the simple instructions - it's only 4 wires btw. Its for an 89 Civ but the wiring is the same. http://www.westworld.com/~joe_r/tach/tachinst.html |

I just installed one in my car last week. I got a 5" tach with shift light. My car already has a tach but it only reads to 8k and my gsr motor revs to a little over 9k.
It's pretty easy to intall, the wiring is easy, mounting is the hardest part. There should be 4 wires, one goes to a power that is activated when you turn your car on. One is ground. One goes to your light circuit. And the other goes to the tach sensor wire which should be coming out of your distributer. I forgot the color, I can go look if you really need to know.

Re: adding a tach to 93 civic LX
I think it's easier & cleaner to use the "in-car" wire for the green.

Re: adding a tach to 93 civic LX
Yes, if you read my first post there is a link for install. Includes wiring & where the tach signal wire is located - behind cluster.

jackasssi, that how to should work for a 92 civic with a 96 LS swap as well correct? I mean,. the process don't really change. I could use a tach at some point
![]() BTW, I agree, I don't like the 5" monster tachs with shift lights...too big and distracting. |

Re: adding a tach to 93 civic LX
All civic's have a signal wire behind cluster that can be connected to the Tach's signal wire. Theres always the option of installing a adjustable shift light the way. I went with a shift light hidden inside my center vent.

I like it...you get creative points too. Now to think of a creative place for a nice small tach...lol...So the wire behind the cluster is an unconnected wire I take it...I read both blue and green....does the color vary from year to year, or is there a particalur color to look for...I suppose if I take it apart and look, I'll find it anyway. Anyways, I didn't realize all civics were pre-wired for a tach...that definalty makes the install much more simple...thanks for the heads up.

Re: adding a tach to 93 civic LX
The blue wire is behind the cluster, underhood(diag. tach output), igniter/coil. The wire is usually tied back if no OEM tach. 4 ways I can think of for hooking up the 4th wire. Your probably thinking green because the tachs/shift lights have the green.
