I have a '99 Pontiac Grand Am the car has been great up until now. Whenever I get in, I have a 50-50 shot of starting it. I know its the security system that is in it. The little light flashes for me. If I wait for 10 minutes I might get it started after that. It's getting worse! I've had all the fuses checked on it and they are all fine. Is there any way I can disengage the Passlock Security System? Have any suggestions on how to fix my problem?
Thanks |

Re: Passlock Security System failure
Most of the time when this happens it is because of the Key, or lock cylinder. How big is your key chain? (do you have alot of keys, and stuff on it?) I would try and have the key replaced 1st, then next would more than likely be the lock cylinder.

Re: Passlock Security System failure
Actually with the Passlock II system on this vehicle there is nothing special about the actual key. The lock cylinder is the thing that contains the electronics, magnet and hall effect sensors that this system uses.

Have your pass lock disengaged.
