LS Grill question

This one has been bothering me for 2 years. I have a 2001 LS Sport, On the lower front right there is a removeable piece of grill (next to the fog light). The dealer has no idea. I've asked around to other car people they thought it was to get to the radiator. Just one of those nagging questions I have.

Re: LS Grill question

Supposedly, it's to access a towhook that's behind there. Not that I've needed to use it, so I don't know if there is even one in there.

Re: LS Grill question

It was required for the Europe-bound cars. I don't know the gritty details, but I think it ahd something to do with a tow hook/tie down. European BMWs have this "door" as well. Since the LS is no longer sold in Europe there is no more "door".

Re: Re: LS Grill question

Thanks guys. The tow hook makes sense.
My 2yr old nephew thought it was a door so chipmunks can go for a ride.
