RB20DET Twin Stock Turbos

Most of you know my situation so... you know you would think about this if you were me.
Would it be possible/beneficial/stupid/cool to run two RB20DET turbos on my RB20DET?
Fill me in:
I'd need a front mount intercooler
Exhaust manifold
piping
another HKS intake
custom exhaust downpipe

Shoot me some ideas/comments...

What do you guys think?

(oh and to those who don't know my "situation". I crashed my 93 GTS-t and got another one so now I have two good working engines.)

Re: RB20DET Twin Stock Turbos

i think it would be possible, however i think it might be hard to find a bolt on turbo kit that would fit an rb20det. the engine space seems alittle bit cramped for that, but i think if you look hard enough you could find it. although i know twin turbos is great, but im not too familiar on them. isnt the second turbo just a backup for the first turbo, and only kick in past 9000 rpm? i dunno. like i said im not too sure on twin turbos so..

Now that be one hell of an engine!

3rdskyline you said yourself you would need a custom exhaust manifold and down pipes. For the cost of getting it built, and then getting the ECU remapped, or a custom ECU fitted and tuned you could probobly drop an RB26 in there and have a lot more reliable power to go with it.

I was thinking along the same lines earlier today, only with an RB25DET. my3rd could sell the spare RB20, use some of that money to buy and install the RB25, then sell the second RB20 once it's out. Depending on what prices for both are like, it could be a sweet deal(minimal extra outlay).

Re: RB20DET Twin Stock Turbos

Parrallel.
Thier both the same size remember.

I also have a suspecsion the RB20 won't flow enough air to surport a twin turbo set up properly, especialy two the same size as its orginal one.
I beleive one of the reasons the RB26 was made 2.6litres was to give it enough airflow to surport two turbos.

Actually twin turboing an RB20 isn't the way to go. Factory they use a T3/T4 turbo setup abit small but still is. The RB20 will always be better on a single turbo setup. It isn't the capcity but the head design that holds you back though in saying that 2 litres is awefully small for that. If you did go to twins they would have to be very simular to the GTR turbos in size which sort of defeats the purpose overall.

Here you are giving advice, on a subject you know absolutely nothing about. I do not know crap about turbos, so I keep my mouth shut.

im not trying to make enemies, like seriously if your remark on twin turbos was even remotely close i would have simply said no you're wrong, but come one i haven't seen shit like that for a while, my 10 year old brother knows more about twin turbos that you...what would the point of having 2 turbos if one was the backup anyways? it wouldnt be in use 99% of the time!!!!!!!!!!!

only kick in past 9000 rpm??? since most car's redlines only end at 9000 rpm....lmao

Re: RB20DET Twin Stock Turbos

Engine management would be an issue. I don't know why you would want TT. Why not just go fo a bigger single turbo? It would be MUCH easier to deal with.
