Radiator Fan, is this normal?

there's two fans on the radiator.

#1 fan near the radiator hoses/passenger side, turns on at a certain temp. It also turns on when the A/C is turned on.

#2 fan near the driver side seems to never turn on anymore. I used to see it turn on at the same time as the #1 fan.

My question is the #2 fan to cool the transsmision oil in the radiator or both coolant?

Does the #2 fan have a higher degree temp than #1 fan? maybe that's why I don't see it turn on?

Also what could be wrong, if there is really a problem?

Re: Radiator Fan, is this normal?

2 fans huh? My car only has one fan. But then again I don't have A/C. I would say if your fan use to come on but don't come on anymore there could be something wrong with it. If it is bugging you then check it out and if you want you could wire it to the other fan so it comes on at the same time.

Re: Radiator Fan, is this normal?

It may have a faulty relay(located along-side the radiator on the driver-side i believe), or the fan itslef may be bad. I had a problem with the fan-timer keeping my fan on too long, until the battery died, but atleast it came on, so yours is not getting power, or is burned out.

1st fan is the radiator fan...the 2nd is for the A/C...to see if ur fan is bad pull off the sensor and jump it...i thought mine were bad because engine was get to bout halfway point on temp gauge and they took a while to kick in...but i guess thats what its supposed to do....jump it see if its the actutal fan tho...if not then check temp sensor.

my engine temps normal, so i'm not really worried about it anymore. i'll have it checked out eventually. so far the a/c fan still doesn't turn on, just the radiator fan, even with the a/c on.

thank you for all advice everyone
