what do you reckon guys?

who would win from a 40mph rolling start?

or from standstill?

i had a bit of a go with one the other day but had to back off due to traffic. felt i was pulling on him tho,

Re: gto vs mazda rx8?

The vr4 for sure. The rx8 has about 250bhp@8500rpms. They have the rotory engine, so to get the power out of them you have to really get the rpms soaring. On top of that, a friend of mine has a cousin who got one, and he mentioned something about them having a recall due to the engine not producing as much hp as Mazda originally promised. So the twin turbo would destroy it from a standstill, and would take it rather easily from a roll.

Re: gto vs mazda rx8?

I wonder how a race between an rx8 and a slightly modified (test pipe and intake) SL would do? Im imagining that the rx8 would win but definitely not be by much, maybe a car length or two.

Iam thinking the RX-8 would win hands down on this one. Personally i think it wouldnt even be close. The RX8 weighs so much less. But thats just me i only seen them run a few times. Heard Mazda is the making of a twin turbo rx8. That would be badass. I would consider trading my my GT for one of those.

Oh yea the RX-8 should never be compared to the VR4. The RX8 would get it's ass wooped so badly.

Re: gto vs mazda rx8?

unless you have a Base or SL i would never trade a VR4 for a crappy rx8 even if its twin turbo. maybe for an RX7 i would but i just love the 3000gt too much.

The said "CONSIDER" it would be a hard decision. And thats IF they made a TT RX-8. It's amazing how the new RX-8 makes more power than the RX-7 and the RX-7 is TT.

Are all rx7s TT? I was under the impression there were NA as well.

Re: gto vs mazda rx8?

Ok, so you are saying that the stock rx8 has more hp then TT rx7? How much did they have? I never really got into rx7s, other than having rotary engines, I know nothing about them.

However, I stopped with a few friends at an import tuner dealership in NJ on the way back from ATCO raceway once a year or 2 ago. (They had a 97 vr4...I said I would own one...my friends laughed....now whose laughing???) HAHA, anyways, they had 2 rx7 TT, that they claimed were putting out over 490hp each. That has to be crazy to be in such a small car with that kinda power. I'd prefer to be in something heavy...you feel like you're sticking to the pavement not blown away by the wind...
