so just now i went to go pick up my aunts at bingo, and i'm getting on the on ramp and outa know where this sti comes flying buy with no warning, damn i can't down shift cause my synchro's are bad
i'm at 3000rpm in second gear so i take of anyway, right of the back he was 1 1/2 car lengths ahead of me by the time i got to full throttle he was 2 1/2 car lengths ahead of me, by the time i shifted to 3rd gear and going i gained a car length back, by the time we reached the freeway i way he shut down. "oh my gosh you fag!" so i got next to him and he wouldn't race anymore, i put my hands in the air and he shook his head as he was getting of the next exit. s%*t i coulda had him, i think, well i was gaining on him, sloooowwly but i was.

maybe he wasnt racing? i always open it up on the on/off ramps... especially if they have curves.. i think you would take him on the freeway anyways.. VR4s have a pretty decent top end right?

my first gear reaches 60mph at redline, i was at about 30-35mph in 2nd and in that range i'm in the 3000rpm area give a little take a little

my car won't even let you put it in 1st gear most of the time, unless you're almost at a dead stop. it makes rolling through a stop sign a pain in the ass.

yeah i cant stand that bullsh*t either, its like those guys who rev on you going in the other direction, then you go to chase after them and they dont want any, i say f*ck em cause theyre chicken sh*t, and now the only thing that sucks is hes going to go brag to his friends about it

yeah hopefully, its possible its the same guy i raced awhile back.
you know i could be wrong, i might not have been able to shift down to 1st (i guess i woulda found out), i havent been able to down shift to 1st gear for so long cause my synchro's that i could be mistaken, cause now i have to come to a dead stop in order to whift in to 1st, otherwise it will grind. but i think i can, i'd probably be at 4500 rpm if i didhmm now you guys got me curious

The tranny really doesn’t have problems with jumping into first from any gear as long as the car is under 60 or so. Its that darn second syncro going from first to second that’s the issue 99% of the time that there is a tranny issue.

I got a 96 vr4 and it wont let me downshift to first, even with double clutching, I get alot of resistance unless I'm at almost a deadstop. I mean...I can get it in, but the resistance leads me to believe the tranny would prefer I didn't, but I don't have any grinding....
Besides our 2nd and 3rd gears are pretty damn fast at accelerating under WOT after 3000rpms anyway. But that does suck. There is a guy up here who got an STi and we used to mildly race(right before rush hour) on my way home from class last semester. I guess he was getting out of work about the same time because we would see each other 2 or so times a week, but we never got to really race, because there was always traffic to weave through...and neither of us were suicidal.

Shouldnt the VR4 be faster if not as fast as a STI stock? How much more does the VR4 weigh then the STI?
