Re: new 03 vr6 24v
The main 3 things you can do first. 1. ECU Chip,
2. Cold air intake and 3. Stainless catback exhaust system for starters(about $800 to $1,200 for all 3 items). Run 91 octane and enjoy the extra power. If you want more raw HP, then you'll need a supercharger or turbo ($3,000 to 4,000), any other mods then the one's I have listed won't really give you any more HP's. Enjoy. |

03VR6,
don't listen to jacee, that chick has know idea what she's talking about. "put in 91 octane and enjoy the power" !!??? sooo not true! go back to school! putting in 91 octane will do absolutly nothing for your car. since the jetta vr6 model does not have high enough compression to utilize it (above 10:1) you will not notice the difference from 87 octane what so ever. test it and you'll see. also about the cold air intake....beeep..wrong again! cold air intakes they are a waste of time unless you are into circle track racing which i doubt you are. yes colder air has more oxygen, but were not talking a difference of 200-300 degrees here, the biggest temperature drop you could get out of the system woud be about 10-20 degCelcius. thats junk when comparred to the temp at your intake manifold which is way more then the boiling point of water. so really the best things you could get would be a better air filter like a k&n, they help fuel econmy slightly, big free flowing exhast helps a little also, but really after all it's not gonna gain you a whole lot. mabey 3-4hp tops. if you really wanna get some serious gains then a supercharger would be the only way to go. then you would need some high octane fuel because we're now forcing air into the car with more compression. regards, guy who knows what he's talking about. |
