z3 Fenders Installation gone bad!

well i got my z3 VIS fenders in yesterday and it looked good. me and bambam89lx (jordan) took off one of my fenders and put on the new one. The bolts dont even line up....We had to cut off one of the mounting holes that VIS made that goes directly behind the door itself. After about 1 and a half hours later, we got it to fit by screwing in screws in new places to mount it. So far it looks good, but damn...if i knew this would of happened, i would of just bought new stock fenders. Ill have pics of it later today.

Re: z3 Fenders Installation gone bad!

where did you buy them? people sell "vis" stuff, but its not really a vis product

my friend with a del sol said he bought a vis cf hood off a website and it wasent it was just a regular carbon fiber hood that fit like shit

Re: z3 Fenders Installation gone bad!

the fenders were terrible. NONE of the wholes lined up except one. We had to use self tapping screws to screw into new locations into the body. There's a small gap between the door and the fender.
He bought them from a place called "Swift Motorsports" in groton, Ct. NEVER buy anything from them. They overcharge and rip people off.

i dont think it's swift's fault really. I'm personally blaming it on VIS racing. Swift just ordered them, but they took FOREVER to get them. So far we only got 1 of the fenders on because we didn't realize it would take this much time n' modification to put on. We'll most likely finish it on saturday morning and put the rest of my kit on. Here are some pics...

the last picture is the pic of where we had to cut the mounting bracket off. Look at it side ways :P

Thats one of twenty reasons why aftermarket fenders are dumb.

Are you putting a kit or something on your car? Those fenders look REALLY out of place.

I've heard a lot of complaints from people about VIS stuff not fitting right... I think VIS is turning into the new Erebuni Corp. on the block.
If you tapped new holes into the body, make sure and primer the old holes, because they could be a rust point very easily.

I agree...if you like them thats cool I'm not gonna bash you or anything. But I personally don't care for z3 or aftermarket fenders. Mine are kind of dented up but if i ever get new fenders they will be 100% stock. Sucks about the fitment though.

Yeah I used to like the z3's, but now...I think I like it better nice and clean, but I have to say man, the fenders alone are pimp, just dont like em for my car...but props bro, sounds like hella work to get em to fit, way to stick with it.

Re: z3 Fenders Installation gone bad!

I told you to buy mine! They fit perfect lol. Vis usually fits pretty good. My Vis front bumper went on perfect. The guy at the body shop called the other day and said he was having problems with my fenders too though. They fit right he was jusst tugging on one to put it exactly in place and broke part of it off. Well good luck!
