in shop 6 times new story every time

I have a 2003 zx2 and the steering still shakes ever since it came off lot and about 3 days ago I was told by Ford MFG and the dealer that it can't be fixed and that its a problem with all ZX2's I see one person got lucky has any one figured it out or heard same story

I think you might have to describe the shaking a little better. My first thought is that the tires may need to be balanced. Does it happen at low speeds? high speeds? Does the car drive as if it is out of alignment?

to the reply it shakes when sitting at idle now only sometimes worse than others. the mechanics repositioned the motor mounts and said that is all they can do. any idea??

ya I've had it looked at 5 or 6 times all under warrenty but ford doesn't know anything and said that its a characteristic of the car and nothing can be done

This is hard to picture... just how bad is the shaking? Is it subtle or is it pretty wild shaking?

It is most certainly not a characteristic of ANY car... don't buy that crap. Unless your Escort has a big Hemi 440 or something you shouldn't have any vibrations or shaking at all.

So it shakes at idle... does it still shake while driving down the road?

moose, would it be possible to fit a V6 possibly a SB V8 into an escort?

I like to say anything is possible... it just depends how creative you want to be and how hard you want to work to get it done.

not any easy swap, LOTS of custom, all zx2's have a rough idle

the shaking gets worse w/ upgrades too. do this, go on ebay and find a hyper grounding kit or a JDM grounding kit. i bought one for my '03 and installed it and it idles alot smoother and it's got a bit better torque too. and if the shaking bothers you that much, don't buy the motor mount adapters from energy suspension cuz at idle its twice as shaky.
