Hi all,
This may sound stupid but: "Where is the radiator stopcock?" ....I'm leaking coolant on my '96, V8 ZJ (GC Limited) and I want to make sure that the drain valve is closed all the way and I discovered that I can't even see the bottom of my radiator, from the back, underneath the car. The skid plate, fascia, and tow hook brackets all seem to conspire to not let me find the stopcock valve. I tried putting my hand in there but that won't work either. I tried following the big, bottom, black hose back to the radiator but that doesn't work. .....I was going to pull everything off the bottom area and couldn't get past the fasteners in the wheel well. ......BTW, I was looking for Zerk fittings on the driveshaft but didn't find any...are there any Zerk fittings on the driveshaft? Thanks, Ray

I have a 95zj and its on the bottom right hand side faceing the engine. Opposite side of your radiator cap at the bottom on the inside. Hope this helps. If you have a leak its probably coming from the plastic seam on the side, been there done that.

The only thing I can think of is check our owners manual or look on the internet to see if there is any info for what you need.

Re: Radiator Question
I have 94 zj w/ 5.2 it is on the driver side facing the engine all the way at the bottom. the original factory radiator stop cock (well not on mine , anyways) does not turn to loosen or tighten it actually just slide in and out, it is hard so u have tto twist and pull or twist and push.
95zj1, I know u meant on the left hand side, but when u are facing the engine from the front of the vehicle it is the right hand side. I KNOW WHAT U MEANT, not tying to break ur balls. |

Zerks on the driveshaft were removed 94-95 or so.
The sides and thus the hose connectors are plastic. Over time they get brittle and crack. Might be time for a new radiator. Try Radiator.com - Lifetime Guarentee, unless you have good local resources. |
