98 Ranger engine problems

I am having engine trouble, rough idling. Took the car in and was told the #4 cylinder is failing. Compression of 104 psi. I was told I need basically a new motor. Is this true? Are there options? Any info would be appreciated.

i'm not sure what comp shld be but it dosen't sound too low to me?could it just be an injector or a sensor?
