dash illumination wire

installed a new deck today on my '95 honda accord ex. the question i have is... where do i plug the illumination wire? the radio does not have a coresponding wire... needless to say the wire is not plugged into anything right now and i have no gauge illumination.


thanks for any help.




p.s. i tried searching but came up with nada.

LOL ... it goes just where it sounds like. You connect that wire to another wire that is powered only when the lights are turned on. The clock has one.

Re: dash illumination wire

yeah i know what it's for.. just wasn't sure if there was a wire on the radio portion of the wiring harness that would be an alternate option or if i'd have to plug it into a different portion of the wiring harness. time to find that stupid wire. thanks.

some have them and some don't ....... take the car side of the harness, and probe each pin with a multimeter. Ground the black lead, and if you get a 0 reading with the meter set on volts, turn on the light. If any have 0 volts with lights off and 12 volts with lights on - you have found the right wire. You can use this same method to find another wire in the dash if you're harness does not have one.
