Question 88 motor applications

new to the world of camaro's am curious what can be used to replace my 305 thanks

any small block. a 350 or 400 would be perfect. you'll probably have to change the manifolds if you throw in a motor with older heads because the bolt on the passenger side closest to the firewall is further back. but a set of headers would solve this. another problem with those cars is body twist if you drop in a torquey motor without reinforcing the rest of the car. also the 7.5" diffs blow up rather easily.

not sure about that bolt on the passenger side head thing, but the center bolts in the heads are at different angles. any small block is identical on the outside with the exception of the dipstick being on the passenger side on post 87 blocks. internals are pretty much the same too except the rear main seal and roller cam in 87 and up blocks

actually the dipsticks are on the drivers side on 87 and older engines

that's what i meant by the dipstick on post 87 blocks. pre 87 have dipstick on driver's side
