to all the die hard neon guys out there, wouldn't you recommend to someone who just picked one up, to remove the weatherstripping under the hood near the windshield for that 2HP boost?!

Re: weather stripping removal under hood 2HP boost
I left mine on because it keeps the water out of the engine bay when it rains

Re: weather stripping removal under hood 2HP boost
Me too. The reason I finally pulled it off was that it was falling off and I didn't want to deal with putting it back on every time I opened the hood. I thought it was only good for 1 hp.........

sry i've offended you mstout, i looked all throught the 31 pages of this forum, didn't see anything about it, so i figured i'd mention it. didn't want to act like you guys don't know anything about the car, like it's not ur damn forum. btw, i do apologize, i went back to my source for the info, it is a 1hp boost... you guys know how it is in big car convos, you criss-cross conversations - anyhow not like i was off by much. is it a big problem if the water gets into the engine bay??? as long as the air intake wasn't hit with the water i figured it wasn't a problem. either way, get back 2 me guys.

Re: weather stripping removal under hood 2HP boost
Well, to be honest, I don't know if it is bad or not. I don't think water would get into the stock airbox the way it is built, and I think the engine is far enough ahead that water wouldn't get on that. You would think that it would be a bad thing though for cold water to get on a hot engine.
Anyone?

i got ya now, i remember back when i was in 6th grade, my neighbor was tryin 2 sell his first car, and he wanted to make the engine bay look cleaner, so he popped the hose out, and when the people showed up there was all steam shootin out of the hood, and the belts were all squealin. i can't quite remember if he did damage to any parts, but if im not mistaken he f'd up sumthin. i think it's cool though that little things can change power though, i mean even if it's 1 or 2 hp, its FREE, lol. i think thats prty kewl

Re: weather stripping removal under hood 2HP boost
I've never heard of this before so thanks...Mine kept falling off so its already gone, and I have probably a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between my hood and the wiper cowl. I put washers in the hinges to pop the hood up a little bit, supposed to be good for a little cowl induction and also lets heat out quicker. I wanted the hood up some more so it would stop bashing my intake, there are pics of my hood by clicking the link below...
