Can You Put 12V Head on D15a2

I have an 1987 Honda Civic with the 8v carb. I want to put the 12v head off the same year car engine code D15a3 but it is fuel injected. Will the carb manifold bolt to the fuel injected head.

Well I can get a 12V head for $50 or a D16a1 for $80. Will I have to do anything special with the intake or exhaust to make either one work. I really have to have it bolt on and look stock for a race car.

YES, you can do it, there is one mod you have to do to the manifold tho, where the CVCC ports meet the head you have to grind a little material out so that they run into the main runners, or get a canadian model manifold because the Canadian carb models didn't have the CVCC stuff and actually has the Si head. this here is what i am talking about with removing the material.

oh, and the exhaust will bolt up too. for the D16A3/D16A1 swap you will ahve to convert it to FI or like Weber carbs, either way it's a LOT of work without a Si model CRX and it wont look stock at all with the DOHC. look in my sig. for more info on that.

So I am going to buy the D16A1 head and put it on the D15A2 block that I am having freshened. The only mods that I am going to have to do are grind the intake manifold CVCC ports and then I can use the stock intake and carb. Any idea how much horsepower that head would be good for? And also is there any mods you can do to the carb to give it some extra power. This car is going to be used for circle track so I guess high RPM is what I am after.

get a weber carb is the only thing you can do for that carb what kind of restrictions do u have for this race?
for hp:

If you were to switch to dual carbs, you would probably manage to yield 91 or more hp, and even more if you were to use a header or just the Si Manifold with a plug in the O2 sensor bung.
go here for the rest of the thread, someone has a similar question just today, this gets brought up quite often at www.redpepperracing.com and they know a lot more than i do about details.

Re: Can You Put 12V Head on D15a2

It basically has to be stock. But they have no idea what is stock for an 87 Civic. So I couldn't get away with an header or anything like that but we do run open exhaust. I might be able to sneak a webber by but the guy I bought the car from runs in the same class so he might notice it. I will be running race fuel (105+ octane) so I would want some more compression I am sure. I was also thinking about doing some minor port work to the heads...just something I can do myself. Any other ideas.
