Weber carburetors and fuel supply pressures
My problem is that i am working on installing a nissan H20 2lt engine into a Datsun 120y sedan. The motor will be running a roots type blower off a 1ggze toyota motor. The problem arises with the carburation of the thing!! Calculating the sums out it seems that to run 10psi boost at 6000rpm, i will need about 230cfm of air flow. Not much really, but a pain in the arse to find something cheap to suit. At the moment i have 1x1.75" Zenith Stromberg CD of which i was hoping to aquire 2. Having run these carbies on another car i was prepared to say that they would have been ideal, but as luck had it i could only get 1. Other options have been dellortos or webers but my friend in crime on the project seems to think that i would have problems with fuel delivery. His opinion is that the webers ect can only handle up to 4psi maximum of fuel pressure, and under these circumstances the flow rate would not be high enough to keep up. My question is "IS HE RIGHT & What is the best options on suitable carbies, keeping in mind that i need to keep the setup small and preferably side draught". The other option i have been trying to avoid is to put a 350 holley on the thing, but any feedback on how this would be likey to perform would be appreciated!! the last thing is we are trying to keep the costs down to a minimum( at the moment the tally is only $1500 and theres not much left to go to get the thing finnished to the point of driving it. This price also includes the car, motor, g'box, supercharger, nissan skyline front brakes, paint, rings, bearings and gaskets.) Thankyou in advance for any help!!

Re: Weber carburetors and fuel supply pressures
Mate, what an awsome project.
Your mate is right about webbers not liking lots of pressure, but you can still run more fuel through them useing larger jets. Even your stromberg will choke under more than 5-6psi. Are you useing a blow through or suck through set up? The Lotus Esprit Turbo uses webbers/dellortos on a blow through set up, thats running about 4psi I think (I can find out for certian). Fuel supply is increased by useing larger jets, not increaseing fuel pressure (but it can be used for fine tuning, after jetting) and there are a wide variety of jet sizes avliable. You sound like your either in NZ, or Ausie. If your in NZ I have a pair of 175 Stromberg CDs which I no longer have a use for. They came off a NEW Lotus Twin Cam engine from an Elan, they were brand new when I got them and did about 10,000kms on an a Triumph 2500TC. I have no idea what they flowed on that, but it made an easy 150hp from its 2.5l (with cam, head work etc). They have been sitting for a few years now, and will probobly need new diaphrames, but are the last of the type made and have acclerator pumps making them much smoother than the older style.
