Is THIS a rip-off? need DSM Help
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2472884741
I was looking at it for my friend, emailed the guy, and asked what has been down, iternals and such. The Engine itself is completely Stock, no internal work. I think his price is completely ridiculous for a stock enigne 1st gen DSM, all you are really getting is the Turbo, which has only 12000mi on it, but you'll still need to fork over the cash for a rebuid, I mean, how long can it last. Am I wrong, was this a good deal for my friend??? Thank you guys |

well it looks like its in great condition and everything but he probably could have found one cheaper stock then built it up... but if the car is truly a 12 second car then it might be worth it... i have seen a lot of them sell stock for 3-4 grand that are in good condition, but then you add the price of the turbo and the other things he has and you would be pretty close to that price if not more, plus you have to add installation or your time if you can build it yourself! so i think its worth it if everything is ture and the car is in great condition!

Ok, but it's going to need a rebuild soon enough, and I have sold a few cars and you usually don't get your money for "cleanliness" or little "extras" like a brand new water pump, you usually have to cough those up. So if KellyBB value is, say, $1500, I mean, it's a rare car but it is still a STOCK car, then say the most I think is worth is $3000. Ever tried to trade in a Modified Car to a dealer... the give you value what it's worth, as for the Mods, they say "Thank You".

Its worth whatever its worth to you...
Personally Ied stay away from higher miled cars... especially ones that have been raced like this... I mean he admits it in the opening paragraph. My suggestion to you would be to find a 2st gen awd from a little old lady stock there out there... happy hunting

ok first i never said clean... i said in good condition, and if you have never gotten anymore for a car that is in good condition to a car that has rust on it and is all dented up then you are a bad salesmen! thats why on www.KBB.com they have Vehicle condition, to give you the quote on how good the body and condition the vehicle is in!
your not trading the car into the dealer... and if a car that has say $20,000 in mods is sitting next to the same car that is all stock the modded car is going to be a lot more $$$ than the car that is stock... even if it is at a dealer! now if that car that your friend bought was all stock then he did get ripped off... but with the 16g and other upgrades its probably worth the money he paid for it! have your buddy do a compression test... if its good then it doesnt need a rebuild... i dont care how old it is, or how many miles it has on it! if it runs good and doesnt have any bad compression or any leaks... then leave it alone! unless your planning on upgrading everything right away! those engines can go a long ways as long as they are taken care of!!! |
