driver seat problem

Has anyone experienced problems with the driver seat? After accelerating from a complete stop, there is a "thump" felt from under the driver seat. I took the 4runner into service and they said that's how it is and there is nothing wrong with the driver seat. But the "thump" is SO annoying. I've searched on the internet, but found only one other person with the same problem which was resolved by replacing the entire seat. HELP!

Please provide the year and model vehicle - also what seats (electric - manual) you are talking about.

I have the same problemwith my seat when you stop and start.04 sr5 4runner v8. Lots of other people do to .Check yotatech.com or toyota 4runner.org. Toyota also told me it was normal. I don;t beleive their is a fix yet and i no it's not normal.

Ask your toyota technician about the following technical service bulletins for the 2004. This is the closest I could find for the 2003. There is mention of squeaks which may indicate it's not a 'new' problem.

Sorry, forgot to put what year, model...it's a 2004 SR5 4 runner. The seat is manual. Still waiting to hear from the service center if they will replace the entire seat...will keep you all posted when I get a reply.

I'm also having a problem with the driver seat of my 2004 4Runner (SR5). When I come to a stop, the seat 'Pops' (that thumping sound). I had the dealer replace the seat adjuster and the problem stopped, at least for a short while, then it started again. On my next visit to the dealer they said that the problem was "Normal." I'm not convinced that it is. How could poping of the driver seat be normal?

I had something similar on my 02 4runner with manual seats. I had an xbox under it and there is a wire rope in the front that connects to the adjusting lever. The xbox would puts on the rope and not let the right side of the seat lock in and then I would get the thump when I would stop or go. Try checking that.

I have a 2004 4runner with manual seats and I have the same problem. Has anyone found a permanent solution?

I ALSO HAVE A 2004 4RUNNER SR5 V6 WHICH HAS AN AGREVATING SEAT CLUNKING PROBLEM ONLY ON THE MANUAL DRIVER'S SEAT. THE DEALER SAYS SINCE MY MILEAGE HAS EXCEEDED MY WARRANTY, THEY CAN'T HELP ME. IF ANYONE HAS FOUND AN ANSWER OR FIX TO THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY POSTING IT OR CONTACTING ME @ [email protected]. THANKS!
