1999 Suburban brake controller

I am installing a brake controller on a 1999 Suburban and need to know where to locate the cold side of the stoplight switch. And where the heck the stoplight switch is at. LOL! If you know what color the wire is and where it all is located I would greatly appreciate any information. I am a female so please be descriptive. I hope this is easy to save a little $$$. Thanks so much.
Rhonda

I think you are looking for the brake light switch. It is usually located on the brake pedal frame. Get down on your driver side floor and inspect your brake pedal arm for a switch.

the wire you want is white, you can double check it with a testlight, ground the clip, probe the wire and press the pedal if it lights you have the right one.
good luck

For anyone else looking to add the brake control, I just did also. I located the convenience center that looks like a fuse block just next to the emergency brake on the drivers floor panel. You'll find a open rectangle marked NAT and two prongs inside. the one on the right is the lead from the brake switch. (test with meter to confirm) This will save you from having to tap into any wires. I found these instructions in the Tecumseh brake control model 9030 available at uhaul. I just copied one page to get the instructions. I used the Aux post under the hood for a 30 amp fused hot wire to supply the power into the control also. And to bring the wires through the dash I drilled a small hole 5/16 and put a rubber grommet to run them through . Works great.
