Supercharge this thing?

Correct me if im wrong, but is it possible to put a superchrager in a '99 GA se, 2.4L Auto? If So can anyone give me some sites where i can check some out? Or if anyone has a similar setup that would work in my car, can you tell me what you got? Thanx.

well you can get the GM supercharger for the 2.4L, but you will have to get rid of your EGR, get a 99+ ecu and a 99+ knock sensor. check out www.gmperformancetuning.com for some help, or even www.quad4forums.com

the GM charger is a better option since it is a GM product 1 and 2 it comes with a warranty. RSM's is untested.

Superchargers work great , best big bang for the buck , work better with lowwer intake manifolds suggested to be used as well as exhaust manifold and headers. It just snow balls after that cams, springs, drive shafts, flywheels , clutches and soon you find you spent more than the cars worth and will have a tough time getting any money back , unless your like me and get every pennies worth and keep driving it like you stole it lol nm selling it , you just made a fairly durable fairly reliable hp mini monster engine that requires lots of love so it can love you back on the road. Or if your one of the more common statistics it will crap out something new each time and tick you off. It all depends on what you wanna do.

your right it all depends on you, but i wanna clarify something for you, when you say exhaust manifolds and headers, they are the same thing. manifolds is what youd refer to stock headers and headers is what youd refer to aftermarket exhaust manifolds, i think your talking about cylinder heads, which the header(exhaust manifold) is connected to.
the cylinder head is connected under the lower intake manifold on top of the block, one on each side.

I havent got so deep as to port or polish the cylinder heads for the exhaust, im not that skilled and its such a tight squeeze i wouldnt know how to get through the bends in them. Have you ever heard the expression you say tomato i say tamato. Its like me sayin look at my fancy new wheels and you say dont you mean alloys? Im not the best at describing motor parts and i appologize , but i did port polish the exhaust ports (6), not internal cylinder heads ports (god i wish) thats my next lesson to learn. How do i describe it ,,,, okay , you know the exhaust gasket thats between the two , its port polished before the headers , is that a port or what is it supposed to be called? What the tecs call it here. Its only an inch deep the port work i did , nothing extensive or complicated. Did i explain it a lil better , do i sound less vague? I hope so.

When I had my Saturn, I did a so called gasket match port. I just ported the exhaust and intake to the size of the gasket. Just that little difference, I could hear it in the exhaust. I could also feel a small increase in power. Down the road, after my warranty is up, that is some thing will do with my GA.

In order for me to port my motor i had to thin out my gaskets on the 3400 cus the gaskets matched the ports almost perfectly with no extra meat to remove inside. I have pressure tests and oil checked frequently to ensure im not leaking anti freeze on the inside or outside of my motor. Those gaskets are tougher than older style ones and are grooved to fit like interloc to prevent leaking (even tho they can anyways) so what i done is considered risky. Even after porting the mas , throttle body , upper and lower intake manifold and port polish the exhaust ports I could hear the engine more and the exhaust was way louder but noticed very little hp gains in performance. So I felt douptfull about the job and got the car dynoed after all the mods i put on and came up with 179hp 4200rpms and 271 lbs at 3750 rpms (wheel hp) Nothing to brag about i dont think the mods made any real high end difference but the lowend is really nice , never hesitates even after running hard all day.

That Saturn had a ton of extra metal to just match it to the gaskets. I couldn't believe it was such a difference when I saw it. If it's that close already on my GA, maybe I'll have to pay for a proper, professional port and polish. Do you know how much that would cost?

up to 2000 dollars for 10-25 hp , doesnt add up for hp per dollar , and 10-25 hp isnt much of a difference considering you can use a lower pressure turbo for 1200-2000 and get an extra 80 hp.
