The best selling truck in the uuuuniverse gets so scaring big and tough!! (2003/4)

It's big, it's bold, it's scary. It’s a hint of what’s to come for the next generation Ford F-Series pickup – America’s best-selling vehicle for 20 years running and best-selling truck for the past 25 years. It’s the enormous "Ford Mighty F-350 TONKA", a vibrant yellow and chrome concept pickup.

For more than 50 years, TONKA – which means "great" in Sioux – has been synonymous with big yellow durable toys for kids around the world. Now, the Mighty F-350 TONKA concept brings together the playfulness of the legendary child’s toy with the subtle marketing of Ford.

This of course is no toy as anyone who comes into contact (literally) with one will find out. Here at PH HQ, we're praying that such a ludicrous vehicle will sink any ship that intends to export the mammoth outside of the US.

Talking

I beleive that is the engine that is going to replace the 7.3 litter. I heard from a friend that used to work for the local ford dealer that it is going to be a beast in the horse and torqe range.

That engine is the 6.0L Power Stroke turbo diesel attached to a 5 speed torqshift automatic tranny. The engine is direct injected, works 32 valves, and the turbo has a variable blade pitch. It puts out about 325HP and 550 ft/lbs in stock form. Chips will probably come along to increase that considerably. As an example there are chips for the 7.3 that range from "mild" 60 HP to way aggresive 110 HP. Add a propane injection system on top of that (like nitrous but without the side effects to engine life and BBQ gas is cheap and easily obtainable) and a bigger exhaust I'm sure they will easily hit 450+HP.

On top of that it is expected to get 10% better fuel economy than the 7.3L. The 7.3 MPG isn't too shabby, 16-21 is the average range. Not bad for moving the size and weight of a vehicle it moves. Better than many gasser equiped trucks.

Re: The best selling truck in the uuuuniverse gets so scaring big and tough!! (2003/4)

I just bought a '01 250 with a 7.3 in stock form. It is a bad ass just as it is. Suprised me big time. Hooked a trailer and two show horses (bout 2 ton) to it. It pulled that trailer like nothing was behind it. Cannot wait to put the Banks Six Pack on it.

Don't waste your money on Banks stuff. Mix and match your upgrades for a custom aplication and a much better price with way more hp and tq than what Banks can give you.

Go to www.thedieselstop.com and ask about Banks there or www.fordtruckenthusiasts.com they will all say the same thing, custom programmers. A guy who my budy works for just blew up his 03 7.3 with the Banks kit on it. Ford said due to the air filter being bad and engine several quarts low of oil they weren't helping out with the bill. The truck was traded for an 05 Super Duty. BTW, that entire Banks kit is now for sale, cheap, intercooler and all.
