DSMlink...help

after i did some research i desided to go with the dsmlink for my 95 gs-t(swap a 6 bolt 91 gsx).i pretty much got what is dsmlink all about, but some thinks are still not clear,so i'm gona ask.
basicly what i need is ECU with EPROM in it(whitch i assume i got-mine is 95),EPROM chip with DSMlink code in it,OBD ll cable,DSMlink software and a lap top.also from what i'm reading i need to make a socket for the EPROM chip too,or can i program my stock EPROM chip, although i got the software and the lap-top.i need the OBDll data cable for sure, but i might have a problem findin it.in two words can i reprogram my stock EPROM(or i need to keep it with it's stock codes).also when u set ones the DSMlink do i need to keep the lap-top in the car all the time,or u just set it and forget about it(unles u don't want to modify something).the thing is i got software,lap-top and stock EPROM,i'm missing only the OBD cable.is that enough to set the car, what else i need.i dont realy want to go with AFC controler since i know whats DSMlink and what it can do for your car.also how much the hole thing is goin to cost me,i'm realy geting limited after the engine swap so i'm looking for the cheapest way to do that hopefully last modification on the car(for now atleast).by then i almost dont drive the car so u go figure how i feel.
thanks to everybody and specialy to 95 GSXracer since he's the one ansuering all my stupid questions.

Re: DSMlink...help

I wasn't sure what you said you have already bought, but you'll need:
1. DSMlink (600)
2. laptop (200+)
3. EPROM ECU. Just because you have a 95, doesn't mean you have an EPROM. http://www.dsmlink.com/faq.html#eprom_ecu (~250 used)

That's all for now, ill be back after work. the 'DSMlink' is software/connector and some reading material I believe.

Re: DSMlink...help

Just curious, how did you get 'the software' without buying DSMlink itself? The software comes with the cable, which is what you REALLY need the most. DSMlink is the software, and ability to connect to the ECU (cable).

If you have an EPROM ECU (check from link above) you don't need anything else for your ECU. All you need is the DSMlink cable.

Re: DSMlink...help

I think the missing link is this. When you place your order with DSMlink everything is taken care of. You send in your ECU, they socket it, and install the DSMlink chip. Its shipped back to you with your stock chip in a little box. The software and special cable are included. You are making it out to be a big procedure, when all you have to do is order it It comes iwth EVERYTHING you need.

Just be sure to open the ECU up before you order to verify that its an EPROM ecu, my 95 didnt have one. www.tmo.com has some insturctions and pictures to help you do this.

Wise choice. I hopr you do find an eprom in that ecu, its the way to go for a 6 bolt swap.

If you happen to purchase DSMLink from a reseller, such as Extreme Motorsports, they may or may not pre-install the DSMLink EPROM chip for you. I had to take mine out of the little protective box and swap it in myself.
