Question frenching a lisence plate

hey i was wanting to know how hard it is to french a licence plate on a 96-00 civc and civic hatchback. i know you buy that plate that holds the lisence plate but do you weld it or is there other methods. also does any one have pics of it done on a 96-00 civic hatchback.

So what is "frenching a license plate"? Just welding it onto the back/front of the car instead of bolting it on?

i am glad somone else didnt kno what frenching ment i was gonna say WTF yesterday ..i thought it ment like cutting the trunk and molding the plate in sideways.

frenching a plate means that you cut a hole in wherever you want to mount your plate. Then you weld in this license plate holder and mount your plate in it. Basically so it sits flush or recessed with whatever body panel you stick it in.

I am supprised nobody before GScivic7 knew what frenching was. You can do it to more than just plates, it can be done to headlights, tailights, etc.

i love the look of frenched door handles. it looks very clean. haven't seen a rear liscence plate holder frenched in yet.. that is to say like the stock one thats back there.

see how the license plate is mounted IN the tailgate instead of on the bumper where it would normally be. Actually, this truck has a roll pan instead of a bumper, but you get the idea.

i just frenched in the factory plate holder thing. looks sweet imo
i did this in photoshop
