RE: 2001 maxima sunroof problem

I have a problem with the sunroof if I try and open or close it thier is only like two inches of travel and than I have to release the switch and press it again and the whole process is done 5-6 times to open or close the sunroof. Anyone else have this problem and what was done to fix it. Any help would be appreciated it's driving me nuts. Thanks

I have a 2000 Max with the same problem. I heard today to just disconnect/reconnect the battery and it should fix it. I have not done it yet so not sure if it works, if it does what an easy fix. Sure would be better than the $300.00 for a new motor I was quoted from the dealer.

Did you guys figure anything out yet? This happened to my 2000 Maxima about six months after I bought it. They said it was the fuse assembly; however, that doesn't make sense. If it was the fuse then the motor would not get any juice correct. An on line parts shop said it was the switch mechanism that controls the sunroof and to replace it costs about $30.

I did disconnect/reconnect the battery and it did not seem to work right away anyway. I really hadn't been using the sunroof all that much since it did not work properly than one day about 2 weeks after the "battery fix" I opened it and it works fine now. Not sure what fixed it exactly but it works. Hope you figure it out.
