Changing oil

Since I do not have the owners manual to my 92 geo metro auto trans 4 door, I was wondering if anybody knew how much oil to put into the car?

Thanks for the help.

Try not to use anything thinner than 10w30. 5w30 just doesn't cut it for any of the 3 and 4 cyl metro motors. It passes right by the valve seals, and will cause valve ticking. Especially synthetic. I've had a few friends kill their GTi and 3cyl engines running synthetic.

Does this apply to '94 trackers? Because I wanted to use synthetic keep the engine in running good.

G10a, G13a, G13b is what I have experience with. If your tracker has one of those motors, I would shy away from the synthetic.

Re: Changing oil

WHere would I look. When I got my 94 geo tracker it did not come with a manual. I guess thats what you get when you pay $500 for a traker.

EDIT-> My Engine is a 1.6L I-4 MPI

Not much experience with the 1.6's. They are similar to the 1.3's tho. most internals, and the engine heads are interchangeable. If it has over 100,000 miles on it, I wouldn't start putting synthetic in it anyways. 75,000 miles is a good cap for that. Bearings start to wear out, and tolerances get bigger. You might notice a signifigant loss in oil pressure at idle with synthetic.

Re: Changing oil

Thanks for the info.
It has 111,000 miles on it. I will just use what ever Firestone puts in it.

Re: Changing oil

another thing with full synthetic oil that no one talks about is that the reason its not recomended for higher milage vehicles is tha fact that it actually decreses the life span of your motor seals, it basically eats tha gaskets away. if you run full synthetic motor oil from day one your fine, but if your seals are a little worn then youll notice that youll be burning thru alot more oil.
