EGR System problems!?
Alright heres the deal. My 90 Cherokee all of a sudden started dying(at idle speed) one day after a mechanic hosed the engine off so I took it to a diagnostic shop. The diagnostic shop said the EGR Valve was bad. They wanted to charge me 1200 bucks to get a new EGR Valve put on but I knew I could do it myself.Anyway when I got it home I noticed it wasn't dying anymore so I looked at the EGR Valve and noticed the vaccuum hose was disconnected. So I decided to leave it for about 3 years. During that time though I noticed most of the time when I started the engine it would rev real high. So finally I took the EGR Valve off and noticed that being full of oil was what made it quit functioning(back in the day I had quite a bit of blowby)so I replaced the valve and the vaccuum transducer (I think,or the black thing that came with the valve) I fixed that problem so now it idles normally most of the time or so it doesn't bother me. Anyway when I start it about 1/8 times it will still rev a little higher than I would like it to. I noticed on my wiring diagram there is something called an EGR Solanoid but I cant find it. Could that be my problem or is it something else? Has anyone else had similar problems? Thanks for your time reading my long story.
