SVA problems !
Hey guys, FINALLY got the motor. Ummm...what can i say...never driven ANYTHING so rapid in my life...AND ITS MINE !!! Thought you guys were on to a good thing ! Glad i trusted you. Its as if no one has seen a VR4 here hahahaha NICE ! (evil laugh)
I have a problem, wen us English boys import a car from Japan, the car has to go through a test called SVA. I've got it back and the speedo is still in KPH and hasn't been converted into MPH. I thought it was a legal requirment for the SVA, but i even have a certificate to show the VR4 has an SVA. Wats the deal? Do i give my Importer a bollocking ??? I also thought the radio had to be SVA calabrated for english radio waves. ??????

yes jay the speedo should be changed by law, the stereo is down to you or your seller, (normally gets sorted during the sale) dont know how your car got through the sva witout a mph face on it.

Hey bri, cheers man, must admit, bit confused at mo. Mine looks identical to your dashboard bro, just bottom right yours says MPH and mine says KMH. What's a Cruise Control Overide, does that mean its bypassed the speed limiter ???

You got instructions for that, because I am not sure, but I think mine does the same thing, I tried setting it at 85/90 a few times and it drifts down to 70ish. So I'm guessing I got the same stupid feature...how'd you override it.

its a kit i bought just after buying my gto, i was fed up with the speedo in kph, so i bought a chip that you splice into the stock ecu which converts it from kph to mph, it takes the stock 115mph speed limiter they have in japan off, and also enables me to set my cruise at over 70mph (ahem...) believe me i know it works... he he.
i did a track day over here at a place called bruntingthorpe, it has a 2 mile straight and i had it set at 145. wierd feeling i can tell you.... the chip cost about £100, its only 5 or 6 wires to fit from memory. nice piece of kit. brian.
