Re: Wide Body Kit for 1st Gen ?!?!?!?!?!

Well, Would anyone be able to tell me if it would be possible to modify a wide body kit for a newer eclipse to work on a 1st Gen ?? I know that anything is possible but has anyone even tried?

you can modify any thing thats fiberglass with either
1. more fiberglass
2. cutting or sanding
either way make sure you get bumpercovers specific for your car. (making one of these fit is not fun, making your own is like the whole water to wine thing)
if you do modify a kit get just remember if abody shop does this $$$$$$$
and it might not look how you want. then again if you do it yourself and don't know jack about body work or fiber glass you will save a few $ but probably get even worse results

Re: Wide Body Kit for 1st Gen ?!?!?!?!?!

I've got a '92 eclipse and I am thinking of modifying the body. On www.andysautosport.com there is a hood for about 550 shipped. It is an evo style hood that looks pretty nice. I am thinking of putting z3 inserts, nsx side vents and shaving the door molding. I have a friend who has worked for a body shop for a couple years and he is sure he can do it. I think it would look bad ass but it is still a '92 and even with a great deal it will cost $2000. I will either do it all, or nothing at all. When I step back and think of what I could do with $2000 I start to think twice.

My friend and I are modifying his 1st gen to have a wide body look. We are trying to make it look like what I did on my 2nd gen. Mine is more of just wide fenders then a wide body maybe. You can be the judge.

Re: Wide Body Kit for 1st Gen ?!?!?!?!?!

You seem to know what you are doing. I give my respect to you. I have noticed that alot of ppl will not put alot of money into a car that is "old". These "old" cars are the ones that defined how the new cars progressed. These "old" cars will one day be classics, and to see some still put every ounce of free time and elbow grease into one, still makes the hair on my neck stand up. Congrats...

As far as the wide body kit goes I will probably go with this kit and mold it to the body like you & your friend are doing... What do you think?
