removin stereo and amp power hookup
I really would like to install an amp and my speakers..but everyone on the TA is soo hard to get to.. like the stereo and cant seem to pull the head unit out all the way so i can plug my RCA cable in.. i dont want to like jerk it out and have every wire being stripped and disconnected. anyone?? is it that hard to pull the sucker out?? And also how the world do you run the power cable to the battery, ive found no grommel holes to run the cable through the firewall. Any ideas and info is much appreciated!!

As for your stock head unit you probly just have your wiring harness caught on something, you just have to get your hand back there some way or something. As for your power wire, you just have to look in every nook and cranny on the firewall...it might be hard to see but I'm sure theres a place to go in on the passenger side. It was hard as hell for me too, but I got it done. As for your speakers, for the fronts you have to take off the door panel, but the middle sides you just have to take the grill off and the very rear 4 by 10's(if you have the monsoon setup) you just take off the panel which is pretty simple. have fun.

thanks for the input....i managed to get head unit out...found out there is no input for the RCA cables. Ill just have to look harder for a hole in firewall, found one but cant tell where it goes into the cab(under dash).

Re: removin stereo and amp power hookup
the hole is on the passenger side, and it blocked off with a rubbery black seel. Its located in the top right corner use a flashlight and you should see it. you just need to puncture the hole and then jam the power cable through there and look for it under the hood. Also buy a head unit. I tried the whole stock stereo setup and got it to work. But it sounds so much worse because you cannot use RCA's with it. I could tell you how to do it for the stock HU but its not worth it.

Power wire...you will have to remove the car's PCM to get easier access to the rubber seal. just push the wire through. You will have to take the kick panel off on the passenger side as well as the glove box to run the wire through all the way back to the back then. That's the hardest part of the amp install. As far as your stereo, you can not use RCAs w/the stocker. Your amp has to have high level inputs or get an adaptor kit if you do not get an aftermarket stereo. Personally, I would get an aftermarket stereo. I bought a brand new CDA-9827 Alpine off of Ebay for 205/shipped. Great deck, love it. I got the wire'n harness connectors at bestbuy as well as the radio antenna adaptor, RF RCA cables and the black plastic part that holds the stereo into the dash. You will love how an aftermarket deck sounds vs stock!

Look for a brand new stereo on ebay. I saved a ton of $$$ on my alpine. Roughly half the cost of buying it at a stereo shop. Good luck!

Re: removin stereo and amp power hookup
no no you dont need to take off bottom panel nor look in the glove box to do this. its behind all that. look under and back more in the top right corner. once u find it, its not too bad you just need to break the rubber, it is not necessary to take anything off. have a friend look from under the hood outside of the car to see when u get the wire through and he can reach down a pull it up tot he battery
