Is buying Apexi S-AFC worth it?
Hi guys,
Im looking at getting an apexi Super AFC (preferably 2nd hand) the new one. My mods are down below, and i also have a turbosmart BC. low setting is 8 psi, and high setting at 12 psi. When i have it on 12 psi i notice a few really flat spots around 4000 - 5000 rpm, and sometimes at 6000rpm too. I was wondering if the S-AFC would get rid of these flat spots, and generally give me a bit more power aswell.

Have you had it properly dynoed...
I noticed a big jump in the mid range as Tim from RPM said that it was running real rich when on full boost so he fitted the Bleed kit for the Fuel Pressure Reg. and well I gained 10rwkw.. up top and a good chunk in the mid.. That flat spot may be it either pinging or over fueling, if you can't hear it pinging its probably over fueling.. and I guess if it is over fueling the bleed kit will set the af ratios correct.. for $70 fitted its a good investment.. With slight mods you have it probably isn't worth getting the SAFC also I'm not sure if the APEXI SAFC supports different oam injectors.. Get a Fuel controller that can run different injectors.. I'm still learning so some of the gear I've said Could be wrong but... its what i've concluded. ![]() Eathan was it you that said you had wheel spin problems a while back? If so did you try the retreads.. ?

If I can do that then I would say yes it is worth it. that is also depending on price and who can tune it properly and the cost involved in that as well.

Ethan the SAFC will certainly correct your A/F ratio and unleash some more power, however, it only controls fuel.
For the same money you can get a Unichip which controls fuel and ignition timing, in most cases a 20-30rwkw gain should be had. |

Its a pitty you havn't got an R32.. You could have had the ecu reprogrammed to suit.. BUT.. I think i remember reading somewhere that it is possibly to get the R32T ECU Running properly in a R33T. Could be a bit cheaper..

turbomad, yeah im trying to correst A/F ratio and get a bit more power. I could get a 2nd hand one for $400 and tuning might be around $300, so if you could get a unichip fitted & tuned for that id be all for it!

The cheapest quote I had to supply, fit and tune Unichip was $1200 ($800 for unit,$400 to fit,tune). I managed to get a 2nd hand one for $500 so I'm currently looking for another tuner as I don't really trust the guy who gave me that quote.

I just bought a apexi super AFC for 275 shipped to my door from the group buy center. lol i have a 2000 Z24 cavalier and i bought it because my car is running rich do to my mods and i want to lean it out, but i have no idea how to lol I just got it on yesterday and i've been messin around with it today. If i add 10% throughout the entire power band will it change the fuel curve? anyone have a expirence?
