Thinking about rx7

Im thinking about buying an rx7 and i have a few questions, im new to rotaries so sorry if some of these are newb questions. I found a high mileage 93 twin turbo rx7 with a few mods, the body and paint look to be in great shape and the price isnt too bad(5000) but mainly im wondering how much a rebuild or new engine would cost and if anything out of the old motor would probably be salvagable. My budgets is going to be around 7K so i was wondering if the rebuild, motor swap would be within reason. any help is appreciated.

Re: Thinking about rx7

WElp. I think the 13B-REW rebuilds run about 2 or 3 grand from a reputable shop. And they can port the motor for you while they have it apart. Then it'll be like brand new 7 all over again, except with more balls.

check out http://www.pineappleracing.com/ for one of the few really good rotary shops taht can rebuild it for you. I don't have a list of all the builders on this computer, but i'll put it up in a couple days. Also you can check out ww.nopistons.com for more 7 information. Another one is www.rx7club.com, but becaureful with that ones, its a highschool forum if you know what i mean.

Re: Thinking about rx7

the lowest you've ever seen was 8gs?!?!? you don't look around much do you? I've seen probably 10+ for 6.5k-7k and I have seen a bunch of burn cars for only a couple grand, and all the need is a new engine or a rebuild with some new wires and that type of thing... they are gonna be getting a lot cheaper pretty soon I think, and if Mazda comes out with the new rx-7 in 2006 I think the proce will drop dramatically... just some random thoughts
