Death

What do you think happens when you die. Personally, it scares me like the enternity thing. Imagine being stuck in the ground and not knowing it. Its hard to articulate, but when I wake up, I dont remember going to sleep, but I know I fell asleep. It scares me that one day Ill die and not even know it. Its weird, I had one of those "existence" moments awhile ago(you know, where you think "wow..do I really exist etc.) and the subject of death appeared in my mind and tis been bugging me.

Re: Death

Meh. I choose not to worry about it. I mean, it's going to happen sooner or later, and there's no way to stop it, so why be afraid?

Ah, I used to cry myself to sleep (like when I was 9) about being afraid of dying. I just don't worry about anymore...that much. Just try to get the shit you need done in this life and have no regrets.

Re: Death

Yeah, don't worry about it, it's like when you're asleep, you have no idea you're asleep. You're not going to know you're dead, so you're not going to be bothered by the fact. And if there is an afterlife, then you'll probably be happy you died.

the only people who are afraid of death are the ones who regret not doing something

Re: Death

Everything is made up of part of everything else.
Dying just returns you to your place of origin the Earth.
And since time is eternal and you had to of come from somewhere. There is no reason why you couldn't come back in some way. You are here even if you arn't.
There is no need to fear death.
It cannot be avoided.
It is only another step.
Why would you want to live forever anyways?

Re: Death

Being a Christian I have a different take on death than some of you may. As Boss San said it is only another step. It is a step into the unknown which is sometimes a little scarry but I know it will be better after that first scarry step. I fear getting old far more than death.

Agreed.
Not to quote you completely out of context DGB, but the best we can hope for is a quick death at a ripe old age after a lifetime of good health.
After seeing my in laws suffer from very unpleasant dabilitating illnesses, I fear terminal disease more than death.

I agree to an extent. I really fear ending up like my grandma and not being able to talk to walk or do anything and having to end up in a nursing home. My grandmas been that way for 10 years this year and I know when she passes I'm not going to be sad at all b/c she died a long time ago to me. I hate going to see her at the 'home'. It gets me really depressed and I would prefer not to go. But do so b/c my mom see's her once sometimes twice a week and I see her every so often.

My grandpa had Alzheimers, and it was horrible. He was always so active and stuff, he would go drive cars, or walk or run and then he just became a baby again. I hated visiting him but I went anyways.

How old were you and how long did you go through it? I've been dealing with this since I was 12 years old. I've seen so many people pass away that I have almost no emotion at anyones death.

This was from age 5-8.

I had alot of people pass away from age 6 untill 12 so death doesnt impact me much unless its someone close.
