Baffling sound
Howcome the subaru engine sounds like it has huge displacement, when it is so small? It has a very muscular sound to it. I am baffled, seeing how similar cars like mitsu lancer sounds small. :S

from what i've been told, the sound of the wrx's sounds so awesome because of the boxer turbo engine in em, if it were a normal turbo engine it wouldn't sound the same. of course i could be wrong but like i said, thats what i've heard from people.

Ye i guess. The first time I heard one I thought it was some japanese V8, but it turned out to be just 2 litres four banger! I swear, it sounds so muscular....

Re: Baffling sound
yup, wrx's and GTR's are the only two 4 and 6 cylinder cars which i actually like the sound of better than a stock V8.

The new subaru engine is 2.5 litres, which could explain why it sounds much more muscular than before........ but still i dont get how four bangers sound like that. How does boxer configuration give it a muscular sound? because it is kind of more like a V shape than inline?

Re: Baffling sound
The 2.5 isn't a new engine at all, it's been around for years, it is however new to the WRX badged line but is only available in the STI, the 2.5RS has a N/W 2.5.
