Question.... How much HP can they take ????

Hey guys, im back again, with more questions. I know that the Lude Vtec has a high compression levels. but Im wondering how much added horsepower can a stock 92-96 Vtec N/A take without beginning to have problems? I mean without having to resleeve and stroke the engine and all that crap (hypotheticaly speaking). ALso, If I was to go the N/A way and do the I/H/E, Wat would happen if I added some maybe 40 shot of Nitrous?? would it hurt the car??

I have found a car for about $5500, that is a 1993 honda SI with about 140,000 miles that has a JDM H22a engine with about 50,000 miles on it. THe car also has cold ait intake. Would it be a good buy?? Might there be something wrong with it??

ok, Thanks dudes

Since i/h/e are free flow mods, the only thing you really need for that level of nitrous is some fuel management. A 40 shot every now and then is relatively safe if you aren't an idiot that sprays it at every single stoplight.

Nitrous works by providing O2 more readily than regular air, so the worst you can do is lean out your mixture.

Re: Question.... How much HP can they take ????

i've seen no2 systems that spray directly through the intake, that seem to be fairly cut and dry, and come with what is needed to manage the fuel to air balance, whatever it may be (i never paid that much attenion to them)

Re: Question.... How much HP can they take ????

Wrong thread OZ, but yes it has been done.

Fuel computer, a fuel gauge, and a fuel pressure regulator. I believe the stock fuel pump and fuel injectors are adequate until about well near 250hp at the wheels (something very few of us will ever get). You'll want a dry kit.

I think dbebesi is talking about the Venom Nitrous Kits. They supposedly have a computer that readies the ECU for the incoming nitrous shot so it doesn't catch it by suprise.

Nitrous is safer than higher levels of NA and FI when done right and provides the most bang for the buck.

Re: Question.... How much HP can they take ????

Just find an inexpensive fuel guage. It needs not be fancy or brand name, it just needs to work. The fuel guage just monitors the fuel pressure, and the computer allows you to change the numbers. The pressure regulator is what is going to give you the power. These three things are useless without more air or nitrous in your system. They only help support it. You might be okay running without these on a 40 shot.

A 40 would give you a little over 200whp on a stock Prelude VTEC. That's near 230hp at the flywheel.

People seem to like ZEX and NX. Venom is also a choice. Look into all the different types and decide which application is right for you.
