i don't know why anyone would say an automatic is better than a manual other than in rush hour traffic or bracket racing. otherwise, i'd choose the manual over the auto anyday. couldn't tell you about the exact debt ratios though.

Manual, Manual, Manual. I think the dealer is just telling you his opinion with the Auto. IMO the only car that is better in an auto are some Mercedes' cause their manuals suck, and their autos rock. I have the Tiptronic, and I wish so bad that I would have found one with a stick. To tell you the truth though, either one is sweet!

personally, i can't drive an automatic. not, 'i choose not to'..its that i cant. i dont pay attention to things, i can't feel the response as well, i dont pay attantion to the speedo...i swerve uncontrollably...i need something to concentrate on while im driving. so i choose a stick.

and how bitch is an automatic anyways?!?

there's this kid my gf works with...hes got an eclipse, looks pretty sick...its got a silvia front end and a supra tail, huge intercooler, blow-off sounds real nice...but imake fun of it...cos its an auto. and not even a tiptronic auto either...wicked boot!

get the stick. the dealer is trying to sell you a car, hes not trying to save your traffic aggravation...

manual is the way to go in an a4...although the new auto in the RS6 and the 3.2L TT is pretty sick...i think the the way its set up is with two clutchs...one with 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears and the other with R, 2nd, 4th, and 6th...basically what is does is it guesses when its needs to shift and it gets the clutch youre not using spinning...so the shifts are a split sec...faster than a human can shift...which is tight...but i dont drive a stick cause im lightening fast with the shifts...its cause it gives you so much more control of the car...keeps youre focus on driving...and its just so much more fun...but those are just my thoughts

The tip is a smoother, more relaxed setting, the manual is, well, however you want it. I'd go with the manual if you are looking for excitement.

Oh, yeah, the 0-60 times are:
Manual-7.9
Tiptronic-8.5
So in performance, manual is the way to go.

Re: a4 1.8t in stick or auto

the A6 is a bit bigger and can come with either a V6 2.8L or a V6 2.7T. if you are used to a gti the A6 might be a tad bit bigger than you are used to, but the A4 will fit just right.

i came from driving an Acura Integra and i test drove a 2.7T A6 before the A4...it was definately a sweet car, but i think it was kinda big for now...so i went with the A4.

theres also an S4 which in appearance, looks exactly like the A4 (if you like the A4 style better) but it comes with the same 2.7T that the 6 comes with. and a six speed manual trans. so it looks the same, different bumpers ad skirts, 100 HP more than the A4...
