2000 Ford Escort battery cables
Corrosion built up on my negative battery terminal. When I tried to remove the non lead connector from the battery post it partially cracked. NAPA said the battery cables were dealer only items. Ford wants $300 for the negative cable assembly because it is molded into the negative connector box. I know that I can cut off the battery terminal end and replace it with a replace it with a quick fitting. Does anyone know if there is a after market replacement for this unit? If so who makes it?

I know this isn't the smartest thing to do, but I'm oki like that....I would just snip the wire, grab another out of some old piece-a-junk, or buy just the plain wire, strip the ends, and clamp 'em together....I'd probably ruin somethin on my car, so if ya do it, ya can't hold me liable for anything...

Re: 2000 Ford Escort battery cables
I agree. You can just cut off the bad terminal, purchase a universal terminal and screw it down. It is very easy and it costs a few bucks. I did this with my escort. I wouldn't fuss about aftermarket stuff but if anyone would have one NAPA would, otherwise go to a junk yard.
