Question Warm drivers cold passenger a/c problem

I have a 97 GT with single zone heat and air (manual temperature control), and can't get it to blow cold air out of the drivers side of the car.
Starting with the middle vent in the center of the dash and all the driver's side vents blow warm air with the a/c on; the rest blow ice cold air.

Has anyone had this problem, I have seen some posts where dual climate control cars have, but haven't seen anything on manual single zone systems.

Thanks in advance

Re: Warm drivers cold passenger a/c problem

Remember that the air temp coming out of the vents is controlled by flaps that redirect the cold/hot air. This flaps are controlled by vacum actuator depending on the settings you have on your dash control. If the dash controls are ok, then a leaking vacum hose could be the problem or worst the actuator itself could not be working propoerly.

Re: Warm drivers cold passenger a/c problem

kilroypr,

Thanks for the reply, I will need to look into the vacuum or actuator issue.
I am still trying to figure out why the difference form the passenger to the drivers side in a car that has a single zone?

Thanks

Well could be worst. Sometimes debri(leaves) or heat related deformations could cause a lever to break and then you would get that behaviour. Nevertheless what you have there is asking for you to open up the dash and look what the heck is going on inside

I guess I'll be digging in before it gets much hotter outside, and I'll report on the findings.

Thanks

Re: Warm drivers cold passenger a/c problem

I have solved the mistery.

The system was low on freon; why it would blow cold out of the passenger side and hot out of the drivers side, all I can do is assume that the ducting for the vents is set up such that the evaporator was not cooling of at the pick-up area for the drivers side.

Thanks all for the help.
