S320 1996 Engine Issues
I would really appreciate some insight on the problem I am facing with this car now. It has been acting like a black hole for me, as far as maintenance is concerned.
Recently, I noticed when I turn on the A/C the car's terperature goes up from 80, to like 98 or even a 100 at times. I sometimes noticed white smoke emerging from the bottom of my car. Today, I had the A/C on with termperature at 98. I stopped at a redlight, and saw smoke coming from my hood. I parked the car on the side of the road, turned the A/C off. There was smoke coming from way below the engine. Please tell me what would be wrong. It works fine with the A/C off. Would appreciate a quick reply. My e-mail address is [email protected] |

Re: S320 1996 Engine Issues
from what you said it seems you have coolent leak when it overheats check the coolant level and there are many reasons such
1- fan clutch 2- front 2 aux fans 3- bad radiator 4- thermostat first fix the overheat cause. |

Get an eclipse what a Joke..
What a fool, get an eclipse.. Come on now no eclipse could ever compete with a mercedes.. As for your smoking problem, I would bring it to a reliable shop and have the diagnose it for you.. Seems like it could be something electrical, or just a coolant problem..

Reliability: No. Mitsu's are much more reliable I have owned a couple of Mercedes, both of them were very unreliable and costly, though they had very nice interiors. After my 2nd merc having as many problems as my first one, I decided that I was fed up and bought a Cadillac CTS-V. I could not be happier.. It is much faster, smoother, more reliable, and cheaper than the Mercedes that I had. I admit I miss the quality of the dash components that the Mercedes had, but the whole car in general makes up for it. My CTS V - 43,000 miles and only regular maintenance.. no abnormal repairs done yet.
