Two Amps?
This may have been asked before. Right now i have a system that sucks i don't like it because my gf has a better system then me. I want to to hook up another amp to drive just my subs, and then the one i have now to drive the front and rear speakers. How would i go about hooking up the two amps. I know about running wire, positive, negative, and speaker wire things like that. I just don't know what i need to make one Positive wire go to two amps. Also, the fuses that i need or what i need.
Or a nice site that explains all of this to me would be great. THanks alot

You'll need a fused distrobution block, and then a grounding distrobution block to connect the one 4 gauge power and ground cables to, hat splits them to 2 seperate 8 or 10 gauge cables. As for the sound signal, if your main speaker amp has an OUTPUT connection to it, connect that to the sub amp's INPUT connection.

Re: Two Amps?
Does it really matter what Brand i get for the Distributions Blocks??? What would i look for in getting these. Thanks for the help. Also is cheap good to for this. I saw some for 60 bux then one for 15 is it that important to get the 60 dollar one, if both the same function?

Re: Re: Two Amps?
the more expensive ones handle more power as well as more amps (three, four etc.). Check what kind of fuse it uses (if it matters to you), what size fuse it holds, how many fuses it holds (usually determines how many outputs you have) how many outputs it has, what the output guage is, whether it is just distributing power or if it grounds as well. It depends or how much power you want. Look around at that stuff. Anything on the web will have a description of the things I listed.
The brand doesnt matter, the things you need from it do.

Re: Two Amps?
For the signal, if your amp doesn't have an RCA preout, like SilverY2KCivic said, and you don't have two sets of preouts on your deck, you can always use a Y adaptor.
Also, fuse blocks themselves don't handle any power. The only thing that differes between them is the size of the input and outputs, and the number of outputs. Getting a ground block wouldn't be bad either though.

Re: Two Amps?
Thanks for all the help. I don't know if i have two preouts on my deck if i can remeber i think i saw Four outs or one may have been an in not sure i will check it out. Also, Could i do something with one amp so i would hook the audio to both of them with running so many wires from the deck to the amp? If One amps has an Line out could i use that and hook it up to the how amp's Line in?
What is a good place for a Ground to go. My friend drilled a hole in his trunk. IS that good?

km23hond Line out to line in should work fine. ![]() I was fortunate enough that my JBL PX300.4 4-channel amp had a set of output plugs that I could connect to my Infinity sub amp. And best of all, the output is NON fading which is perfect!

it really doesn't matter if it drops the level of a line level signal - unless it is weak already

Re: Two Amps?
You can pick one of the blocks up at wallmart and it will be perfectly fine, You just have to make sre it is rated for enough current, that is all that matters. Also You can use a y splitter, and it will also work perfectly fine, but for best sound you would use seperate inputs
