Tips on stereo?

Well the driver side stock and added speakers dont work, the rear and passanger ones do. I was speaking to someone i met online whos an acura dealer, and he told me to first check the plugs ins. I pulled out the deck but it wouldnt come all the way out enough for me to unplug it, it was caught on something and i couldnt fit my hand through it. I then tried to move whatever was getting stuck through the back but the all the wires stopped me from being able to even get my thumb in it.

Any suggestions or what might be causing the drivers side speakers to not work (yes i checked the programming and went from front to rear and back again)?

If you remove the center console there should be enough room to disconnect your stereo as it had to be connected when it was installed ... The antena wire tends to get caught on a variety of things so you may have to use longnose pliers to disconnect that first.

Check the back of your stereo as it may have a slider for 2 vs 4 speakers, if it is on two speakers then only two will play; depending on how they are wired (right or wrong) any two speakers may play if the two speaker option is selected. Check all the speaker-bound wires while you have the stereo out; jump the battery wire and check for output voltage. No power means the the stereo needs a new amp, has an internal short, or both.

If that does not work unplug the speakers and see if you have power there. If you don't but the same wires are hot as they come out of the stereo prior to hitting the connector then you have a short in your wiring.

Generally, bad amps make your stereo hot enough to cook on it within 2 or 3 minutes of having turned it on.....

Hope this helps....

Re: Tips on stereo?

swap the left side speakers with the right side. if the problem switchs sides its your speakers. if not you have to find a way to get the radio out.

Re: Tips on stereo?

if it doesnt work with new speakers then just run a new wire from the deck to the door, then splice those wires into the wiring harness in the radio. its not as hard as it sounds.
