Listen man dont buy a 2000 plus eclipse there horrible performers period, idc what anyone says they are NOT meant to be moddified at all they were not made by mitsu they were made by Chrysler notice the SOHC engines. THey have horrible cheap seats that are uncomfortable terrible understeer and torque steer and the bitch is like driving a boat. Aftermarket support pretty much non existant and irrelavant seeing as how neither engine can withstand much boost. But for what it is its a fine car if you dont want to modify it and Just want a pussy getter go for it there cheap to maintain pretty damn reliable(have an rS with over 100k miles on it havent done shit to it yet not even a new clutch) and there not bad to look at. Just make sure you dont get burgandy or youll get shit from peeps for it being a bitch car. Also low visibility horrible RPM range and its nothing but a Neon. Tranmission is very touchy and weak and youll find yourself getting pissed at the lack of speed in 3rd gear and 1st jumping up so fast and having to shift so damn early.

Re: buying eclipse 2000+

Dude you drive a freaking RS those do suck. I test drove on they are crazy slow, but the GT is a completely different car. Your just bitter cause you didnt spend the extra 4 grand to get a GT. I would buy another GT any day of the week. I'm just broke so I have to sell mine.

lmao for one dude Im not bitter over a damn thing I got the thing free, I wrecked my 2001 Camaro which was a MUCH BETTER CAR, and ended up with the eclipse cause thats all Drive time had, its a very reliable car but I have driven a V6 and fast yes but IT HANDLES LIKEA PEICE OF SHIT. ITS to god damn heavy and it understeers worst then a hooker on a 12 inch dick, and you know its true.

Re: buying eclipse 2000+

I've driven a Camaro before. My buddy had a 93 Z28 that was no where near stock. Yes, it was very fast and was built well, but I would rather drive my Eclipse any day of the week. The Camaro is a great straight line car, but I hated the way it handled. I can point an shoot my car. The Camaro is more of a Hold on it might stay on the road. I've never had my car on a autocross course or anything so in my driving I've never noticed a problem with understeer. It allways goes where I want it to and have never worried about not making a turn even under extreme conditions. I guess its just a matter of what you are used to. I couldnt stand driving the Camaro(unless it was a straight line, which was awesome) but I love driving my Eclipse. Its a lot of fun to me.

Zanark, backup your statments with some proof. Everything you said is your uneducated opinion.

And dont say the GT handles like shit. Have you driven one on a track and compared to other cars? I didnt think so.

First off a 93 is NOT THE SAME AS A 98 AnD Up V6, Z28 Or any thing , and a Camaro 98 plus will leave an Eclipse with its dick between its legs ont he corners or in str8 lines PERIOD. and Yes ive driven an Eclipse GT THEY HANDLE LIKE SHIT, fuck on the track back roads is where it counts. there as heavy as the fucking camaro and iT DOES HAVE A SHIT LOAD OF UNDERSTEER. If you even try to say that a 2000+ Eclipse handles good your full of it or have a bad sense of reality. The damn Neons out handle a 2000+ Eclipse and the GT and the RS,GS all have the same basic compenents besides ABS,Wheel/tires, and a diff engine. they are NOT handleing cars, why in the hell do you think they stuck a V6 in a Eclipse Chasis if they expected it to handle? Ever driven a 3000GT SL? thats all your getting with an Eclipse GT, Period.
and Skinut I completely agree with you man a 2000 EClipse is a good realiable car in any condition but it doesnt handle all that great. For what it is its a great car and for the price cant really beat the concept but its not meant for all out performance thats all I was saying man. Lol and camaro are shit in rain thats how I wrecked mine, to fucking low for rain and doesnt have enough travle to handle bumps to well.

I believe it's all in the driver - I have taken my 2003 GS at 73mph around turns no prob, tires grip just right, shifting on the sequential is very nice. I am waiting for my front and rear strut tower braces to come in the mail, that should also improve the handling on my currently stock Eclipse GS. Also, someone had mentioned before that Chrysler had virtually made the Eclipse - If your looking @ it from a sports car point of view, look @ Chrysler's Performance line. Also I wouldn't expect the Eclipse to be a purebred Japanese Mitsu, Because it isn't even sold there. When one can understand the techniques of the road, and understand his car, there's no better combination, he's nearly capable of anything. - just my p.o.v.

Well, I beat a C5 Corvette among many other cars in a road race back in January. Thats my reality. Want proof?

So you're sayning any car that has a V6 in it cant handle? Hmm....thats a pretty ignorant statement. Also, the SL weighs like 200-300 more pounds than a GT. Please, research before you make any more uneducated posts.
