lowering springs

I want to lower my 99 GS and I have some question I hope someone will help me with. I dont want to spend the money on Eibach springs, what other springs are good but cheaper? What about Sprint? What is a good drop for an eclipse 1.5 inches or 2 inches or what? How do you know what degree of camber kit to buy? Help please.

believe it or not, the tien springs are cheaper than the eibach. sprint springs aren't the best IMO. but thats just me. if you're going to do something, you're gonna want to do it right. If you do lower your car.. you will also need to buy new shocks for the car. by lowering the car, you put the shock under stress while it isn't even moving. thus when you actually hit a pothole or a bump in the road, the shock is "crushed" to it's max and it causes them to blow and then your car rides like a damn tank (trust me.. I know what tanks ride like) I personally would not lower the car more than 1.5, it's a little excessive after that and too hard to drive. but then again I have crappy ass roads. almost all camber kits are adjustable. buy one that is, and when you adjust your camber, just make sure the tire rides flat on the ground. that way you won't have uneven wear and the vehicle won't shake at high speeds. you may not even need one if you're only dropping it 1.5 inches. I went with the tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable set (4 shocks 4 springs) msrp is about 1,100 but u can pic them up off ebay for about 700 or you can get the hp set for like 500. great suspension i am very happy with it.

You can actually get the Tockico HP setup off of ebay for about 389.00 and 40 bucks for shipping. But I agree with every one else. You should do both shocks and springs at the same time. If not you will need to pay for 2 alignments. And if you dont your car will ride like crap. And trust me if you dont change your springs you will change them in a few short months. Especially if you lower your car more then 1.5 inches. If you go 2 inches you will repalce them in a few weeks.


Do it right one time only. Save yourself money in the long run.

when i put my coils on i never got my car alligned... put a camber kit on and dropped it 4 inches, rides just fine. i can get up to about 120 before it starts to shake
