Unhappy transmission problems

I am having problems with my tranny. Today my husband put in a knew filter and drained tranny fluid and put new stuff in. When he did this metal pieces came out. Something looked like part of a ring or something. So im not sure if i need a knew tranny or just keep draining and putting new tranny fulid in? can someone help me. its a 95 lumina 3.1 4door sedan 4speed automatic. I am located in wisconsin and having a hard time finding a transmission rebuilder.

Re: transmission problems

I just saw that on your info page. The guy I had in mind is way out of your way. I really doubt it will be a cheap fix

Re: transmission problems

If you're looking for a cheap fix, you might want to check out salvage yards.

Question Need Cheap Tranny

My Transmission doesnt start slipping until my service engine soon light comes on.Can someone tell me why? Is there a sensor i should be checking? Is there a stall converter?

How do you know its slipping, do your rpms increase for the same speed? Your transmission has a lock up torque converter and the computer monitors the slippage when its locked, and if it detects more than 100-200 rpms slippage it will no longer engage the torque converter clutch eliminating lock up. The slippage could be caused by the torque converter clutch(TCC) apply valve wearing the valve body and having pressure leak by instead of being applied to the TCC- it happens to the transmission that gm puts in rear wheel drive vehicles(4L60e) and the trans in that car should be the 4T60E which probably suffers from the same problems

Re: transmission problems

To determine for sure that is what's happening, it would need to be hooked up to a scan tool for a road test. I wouldn't spend the money on having the valve body fixed without fixing the part that is missing the pieces you found in the pan.
