Tire diameter question
I have a brand new Michelin spare on my 95 Explorer 4x4 and I want to know if there are there any problems assoicated with putting the spare on the left rear while running a tire with about 2/32 or 3/32 on the rear? I think the tread depth is about 14/32 on the new Michelin. Both tires are the same manufacturer and tread design as are the front tires.

Re: Tire diameter question
it's never a good idea to have different diameter tires. but a spare usually never go's very far so you should be fine. look at those poor excuses for spares they put in cars these days. the reason they say don't drive more that 60 miles it the spider gears take a hell of a beating. also make sure the tires front to back are the same. remember tires are cheap!!! diffs and transfercases are not.
whats a sticker-burr? |

Re: Tire diameter question
Sticker-burrs are the seed with little "quills" that stick to your socks, laces, even fingers.
You risk a flat tire with 2/32"!! (joke) |

Re: Tire diameter question
i shouldn't be a problem as long as the tire is the same size no matter what the tread depth is on both tires, it may cause a problem after an extended amount of time, but thats why they call it a spare, get a new tire asap
