97 Grand Am Gets Hot in Town

I have a 97 Grand Am that gets hot in town but runs cool on the highway. It seems to be mainly when I run the air conditioner. The air that comes out of the vent warms up as well. This is all on fairly hot days. I have sprayed a hose through the radiator to clean it out. The electric fan kicks on when you turn the AC on and it also kicks up a notch when the car gets so hot. How can I stop this problem? Thanks in advance.

mine does pretty much the same thing, the gauge goes about halfway and then itll just hover there until i get going faster, like as you said on the highway
