2000 Ford Ranger XLT

I too have recently purchased an identical Ranger. I did some checking and the 4.0 gets 160 hp @ 4200 rpm, and 225 ft/lbs of torque @ 2750 rpm.

I have driven about 11000 miles in the last 4 months and the mileage was as follows: in the cold weather of Wisconsin in winter, the truck got about 16 to 17 mpg, mostly highway driving. As the temps have warmed up, the mileage has increased to a high of 19 mpg. I hope to see in the 20's as temps continue to increase. I have tried babying the truck to increase mileage, but it seems to get just as good when I beat on it as it does when driven mildly.

I have the same truck as you do, I get 22 MPG at just about any speed, I suspect you have a problem with your fuel system if you only get 16 MPG, what is your rear end gear ratio and what rpm's you running at 60 mph????
